Amit Poonia M.D. (Medical Director)
Dr. Amit Poonia is a board certified Interventional Pain Management Specialist and Anesthesiologist. After completing his internship at Georgetown University Hospital, Dr. Poonia completed his anesthesia residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center and served as a Chief Resident in the Department of Anesthesiology. Dr. Poonia then completed his Interventional Pain Management Fellowship at NYU and has been board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology for both anesthesia and pain medicine.
Awarded America’s Top Physician Award in 2013, Dr. Poonia continually strives to improve the quality of care for his patients. Dr. Poonia is actively involved as a speaker and clinical instructor for various organizations across the nation.
Dr. Poonia has expertise in the treatment of a variety of painful conditions including neck and lower back pain, joint pain, myofascial pain syndrome and complex regional pain syndrome, through the use of minimally invasive techniques such as epidural steroid injections, selective nerve root blocks, radiofrequency ablations, major joint injections, spinal cord stimulation and pulse stimulation treatment. Dr. Poonia supports a multimodal team based approach to the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of painful disorders. Working with medical health professionals, Dr. Poonia is dedicated to providing every patient with the highest quality of medical care.
Our Administrative/Clinical Staff:
Deepak is the Practice Administrator in AIPMC. Deepak has studied medicine (MD) from India and recently graduated from New York Institute of Technology in Master of Business Administration majoring in Health Care Administration. He loves playing baseball, reading books and going for long drives.He enjoys working at AIPMC as the staff is very cooperative, intelligent and everybody knows their job responsibility. He would like to contribute to AIPMC by producing clear-cut results right from the start with well-developed technical and communication skill; flexible and adaptable to both new situations and changing organizational needs. His key strengths are time management, business analysis, innovation in cost-effectiveness, adaptability and marketing strategies.
Keta is the Practice Manager at AIPMC as well as a medical assistant. She has studied Bachelors in Biology from Rutgers University: Major in Biology, Minor in Comparative Literature and recently attained an Associates at Eastwick College for Cardiovascular Ultrasound.
Her hobbies include drawing, painting, hiking, traveling and cooking. She has been with AIPMC since it started and gained valuable lessons in building a practice from scratch. She had little experience initially in the administration/executive assistant role but now,after going through the process, feels very confident of her abilities.She enjoys working with the staff in AIPMC and feels strongly about the goals set by AIPMC to provide pain relief to our patients.
Keta is very excited to see that in a very short period of time, AIPMC has established itself as a leader in providing world class patient care with utmost professionalism and excited to see what the future holds for the practice. Keta’s key strength is her attitude and ability to multi-task and quickly learns any new tasks that are given to her. She is very reliable and trustworthy and open to sharing her knowledge with everyone.
Mahwish is a Medical Assistant at AIPMC. She has studied Liberal Fine Arts in College and finished courses in many languages such as like English, French, Spanishand in Computer as well. As she is full of life, she has many hobbies which consist of watching movies, listening to music, playing with her iPhone, apple TV and anything that is the latest technology, hanging out with friends, parties, swimming, drawing, reading books, BBQ’s, music festivals, shopping and surfing the net. She enjoys the versatility of medical assisting.
She likes working in AIPMC because she gets the opportunity to work directly with patients and being a good listener, caring and empathetic person, she helps patients out in a subtle way. The way she would like to contribute to AIPMC is by implementing the vision and motto of the practice that is “Patient care is the primary focus”. Her favorite quote is “No question is a stupid question” and she makes sure that she is on top of everything. Her key strengths are analytical, planning and communication skills, quick learner and positive attitude. She believes in herself and is very self-confident.
Our Billing Staff:
Keyur Patel is the Pain Management Billing Specialist in AIPMC. He has done Bachelor in Dental Surgery from India and Master’s in Healthcare Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University. In personal time, he enjoys watching movies and TV serials, playing games and searching for deals to catch a good bargain.He likes to work in billing as he enjoys work that is detail oriented plus his work is appreciated in AIPMC and does not go unnoticed. He likes to contribute to AIPMC by making the practice fully organized and providing back end support so that the practice can provide excellent patient care. Keyur’s strengths are his attention to detail, Can Do attitude and strong work ethics.
Asha Patel is the Anesthesia Billing Specialist in AIPMC. Asha has done certification in medical assistant, Phlebotomy and EKG testing from Manhattan Medical School and have worked in medical billing for 6 years. Asha likesto watch movies with her kids during free time and listen to old romantic songs.She enjoys working in AIPMC as she feels that AIPMC is like her second home and enjoys the team effort put together by all of the staff members. She would like to contribute to AIPMC by making sure that everything is running smoothly and her key strength is that she is a team player.
